    Charlotte, NC 5th Alarm 05/18/23

That helps, but the huge job in Edgewater a few years back that destroyed several occupied wood frame apartment blocks shows that even when buttoned up, these buildings can allow fire to spread very quickly. Here in Richmond, VA they can't seem to throw these piles of kindling up fast enough...

Me and my wife's old apartment! I guess I got the box wrong.

    12/20/22 Brooklyn 10-75 Box 1255

Just around the corner from my old digs on President St. Sort of suprising to see 226 3rd due engine there. I guess 226, 219 and 220 are all pretty close to the same distance from this box.

    Electric Aerial

Don't know about y'all, but there's no way I'd go in to attack a fire knowing that the pump on the other end of my line is running on batteries. I'm very much in support of moving away from fossil fuels where it makes sense, but this is one place it still doesn't. What about extended operations...

Would one of the high pressure engines be able to supply a master stream with 350 ft. of lift?

5/5/22 Brooklyn All Hands Box 1157

I have a very fond memory of seeing SQ1 flying down 7th Avenue in front of Methodist Hospital right at evening rush hour. They were in the oncoming lane and if the siren was going, you couldn't hear it over the constant airhorn. I'm pretty sure I never saw anything moving through Park Slope that...

    3/8/22 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 3621

Rage, selfishness and stupidity are a heck of a combo. Hopefully everyone hurt as a result of this act recovers quickly and fully. Gotta wonder as well if maybe that 10-45 code 2 woulda been in better shape had the first due companies not been delayed by a different selfish and stupid person.

My daughter was looking forward to starting kindergarten at this school in the fall. It's about 3 blocks from our house. It's a big loss for the neighborhood.

    1/18/22 Bronx 2nd Alarm 10-60 Box 2335

Yeah, when I heard them call in to report they could see smoke from the highway I assumed at first they were responding to the box, but when the dispatcher relayed it to the chief, he told him it was from "94, they're operating on the Bruckner."

    4/6/21 Queens 8th Alarm Box 7864

It may be they were waiting on the line to the roof as well as manpower below. As I understand it, because the fire apartment door was open, the top floor hallways were fully involved. And if the hallways were going, the trench cut may have been futile even if it had been pulled. Bottom line is...

Good to hear that everyone will recover.

    4/3/21 Queens 4th Alarm 10-60 Box 5480

I was wondering what goes into the decision whether to transmit a 10-60 or a 10-66 in a case like this. Was it made a 10-60 because of the collapse? EDIT - Was reading a bit and I'm now wondering why there wasn't a 10-66 and a 10-60 in this case.

    Compton,CA Pallet Yard Fire 3/31/2021

That's the second big pallet yard to go up in Compton in the past couple months. No homes were destroyed in the last one, but a bunch of motor coaches parked on an adjoining property burned.

Richmond, VA Quick Knockdown of Structure Fire 3/15/2021

Nothing too exciting, but it was around the corner from my house and there's a video showing RFD at work.

Two long runs to Park Slope for S252 already today. Did they make it in before this job went PWH?

    1/27/21 Brooklyn 3rd Alarm Box 1241

That job was the last one I got to buff before I moved down here to Richmond, VA. The smell of the smoke woke me up all the way over on President St. near 6th. It was heavy enough that I figured the fire had to be within a block or two.
