That doesn’t make sense logistically. If an engine and a ladder (stationed with a battalion) can arrive first at a location, then that has to be closest battalion. But the battalion comes from the second due station along with the second due engine and ladder. Well, ok, maybe it’s a border box...
That is indeed a strange assignment. I don’t recall ever seeing a first due engine & ladder coming out of the same house as a battalion chief, but the battalion isn’t assigned even as the 10-75 chief. 🤔
After reading both posts above, I have a question. Had everything been available, what would have been the response? Specifically, would the 52’s have made it?
This site is excellent. I wish this was available to me when I started this journey many years ago. I have learned more from this site in 5 + years than I did in all the years before I found it. The discussions, the videos, and overall coverage of Fire/EMS is really incredible!
It was interesting to watch how they set up the news conference. I’m guessing one of the two guys involved in organizing it was Car 23D (duty press car).

This isn’t a trick question, but does that include locations that really aren’t considered traditional fire/ems buildings such at SOC (CTU, RB, TSU1, SOC units ) and the Fire Academy (HMB, Mask Service) where units respond from?
I looked it up and it is a unique setup. They all fall under the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services. And I see they have a couple squads / heavy rescue type vehicles. It’ll be interesting to get “vbcapt” take on it.
