In Westchester, North White Plains FD sits on a corner and the other corner is the City of White Plains. (WPFD). Some quirky stuff out there.

Okay, thank you. No it’s starting to make sense! 👍

That doesn’t make sense logistically. If an engine and a ladder (stationed with a battalion) can arrive first at a location, then that has to be closest battalion. But the battalion comes from the second due station along with the second due engine and ladder. Well, ok, maybe it’s a border box...

That is indeed a strange assignment. I don’t recall ever seeing a first due engine & ladder coming out of the same house as a battalion chief, but the battalion isn’t assigned even as the 10-75 chief. 🤔

They are dispatched 24/7/365. Whether members are around for every call is a different story. Many volunteer departments face this situation.

In the video, it appears first due Battalion 11 is an “acting battalion”, yet he didn’t become a firefighting chief, replaced by a regular battalion.

After reading both posts above, I have a question. Had everything been available, what would have been the response? Specifically, would the 52’s have made it?

    NYCFIRE.NET

This site is excellent. I wish this was available to me when I started this journey many years ago. I have learned more from this site in 5 + years than I did in all the years before I found it. The discussions, the videos, and overall coverage of Fire/EMS is really incredible!

It was interesting to watch how they set up the news conference. I’m guessing one of the two guys involved in organizing it was Car 23D (duty press car). Majestirium - Hope you enjoyed the grub!

    rescues response areas

Good question! That area always confuses me. For that matter, where are the divisional response lines for Divisions 8, 11, 15? 🤔

    Total FDNY houses?

This isn’t a trick question, but does that include locations that really aren’t considered traditional fire/ems buildings such at SOC (CTU, RB, TSU1, SOC units ) and the Fire Academy (HMB, Mask Service) where units respond from?

Good memories, I’m sure 👍. When the boss tells me to go, I gotta’ go 😂.

City of Pittsburgh Fire and EMS Bureaus

I looked it up and it is a unique setup. They all fall under the Virginia Beach Department of Emergency Medical Services. And I see they have a couple squads / heavy rescue type vehicles. It’ll be interesting to get “vbcapt” take on it.

Thanks What made me look is that there were 2 fires approximately 30 minutes apart and R2, RAC2, DV 15 & S252 available for both! Good stuff 🔥

City of Pittsburgh Fire and EMS Bureaus

I looked at New Orleans. Definite 3rd agency, but no heavy rescue responsibility from what I can tell.

Which division? Near the border I believe.

Interesting! It’s a different setup, but whatever works is A.O.K.

City of Pittsburgh Fire and EMS Bureaus

I am heading to Pittsburgh on business. As always, I look up to get an idea of the fire and ems service provided. The fire and ems are separate services, with the FD doing first response. I was looking at the roster of fire apparatus and I noticed they didn’t have heavy rescues, hazmat units or...
