On this date in 1981 Engine 43 and Ladder 20, one of Boston's busiest firehouses were placed OOS. Little did people know this would be the beginning of a period of time when 15+ companies would be placed OOS because of Proposition 2 1/2 and a vindictive mayor who had presedential ambitions.

Here are some numbers for CFD EMS runs for 2023. Total ALS Engine companies 126,618, Truck 17,518. Total BLS Engine companies 40,930, Trucks 60961. Total Ambo calls/runs 398,135.

To replace aerial ladders on two Mack B85 Special chassis the Chicago Fire Department purchased 2 Magirus 146' units from FDNY. They were assigned to Trucks 3 and 39.

Fire was in the Hotel Lenox and was the result of an electrical explosion in the rear of the building. Second alarm and extra trucks were called to assist in the hotel's evacuation because of a heavy smoke condition.
