    7/31/24 Queens 2nd Alarm 10-77 Box 1319

Difficult fire. Heat and humidity caused a "negative stack effect". Smoke went down instead of up. Zero visibility conditions on 1st and 2nd floor into lobby. Companies had a hard time hooking up and making it to the apartment. Several maydays transmitted. Quite a few ran out of air and...

    Blocked Hydrants

Yesterday- the City used something called "the barnacle" thru out Rockaway. Its like a tire boot, except it gets attached to the drivers windshield. The City could end the hydrant parking problem in a week if they actually wanted to.

    6/27/24 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 2976

The main problem with an exterior line is air movement or "entrainment". That moves heat and everything else IN to the building instead of out of it. The reason a nozzleman is taught to whip the line around is so that he creates forward air movement, ideally out a window that has been vented...

    6/27/24 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 2976

No one was rescued. They self evacuated. OV had to scramble to get into the bucket, over taken by extending fire. The old opposing lines theory is not totally correct. An exterior line can certainly be used. It must be coordinated with the interior units. If FDNY Engine Ops are followed...

How will Congestion pricing affect FDNY/ NYPD members working in lower Manhattan

That article is just more cheerleading for CP by WABC. No mention of the various Vision Zero inititives that are choking traffic all over the place. Bus lanes, lanes removed, giant median pedestrian plazas, high curbs, etc. That alone is the reason times are up. Traffic has been purposely...

German Police Officer dies after attack

Tragic. The video of this attack has touched a nerve with many people in Germany, for a very different reason. It shows the officer immediately subduing the victim of the initial knife attack, an actual German. The Afghan killer stabs the officer from behind while he is pinning the victim...
