My Dad was a Lieutenant in Ladder Co. 101 from 1950 - 1961. This photo of him and his crew was taken in front of the old firehouse which is now home to 'Friends of Firefighters'.
Firefighters were fueling the apparatus in front of quarters when a vehicle drove by and fired rounds at the Brothers. On Firefighter was struck but not seriously injured. Be careful, stay safe!

A member of the retirees group I belong to was a Fireman working in Ladder Co. 7 at the 23rd St. fire. He's a great guy who retired many years later as a Lieutenant. He once asked me how we continued to function after 9/11 (due to our massive loss). In return I asked him how he and his Brothers...

36 years ago today, at approximately 9:20 AM six heroic F.D.N.Y. Firemen were killed in the line of duty when the roof of the burning Waldbaum's Supermarket they were operating on collapsed.
