With 266 fatalities, this would have been the worst incident that I responded to in my entire career; instead it was dwarfed by the 9/11 terrorist attacks which occurred two months earlier. May they all rest in peace...
I did not know the Chief, but as a fellow F.D.N.Y. 'retiree' who now lives 1200 miles away from the job that I loved ... my thanks to you and the rest of the Brothers & Sisters at V.B.F.D.'s '10 & 10' for continuing the age old fire service tradition of 'doing the right thing'. From the...
I covered a night tour in R4 during the wakes. We stopped at the site on the way back from a run and walked through the scene. I remember how badly I felt, almost not believing what had happened. Little did I know that this was soon to be followed by so much more loss ... May God Bless you...

Wow Grumpy ... how much effort would that have taken? We frequently used to pull the rig out on the apron for visiting photographer's ... courtesy & company pride
I just received word that Retired F.D.N.Y. Firefighter Billy Quick passed away early this morning. He worked in E 290, R 4, Sq. 288 and L 134. He leaves behind a wife and two children. May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family.
Billy worked in the rescue / recovery operation at The W.T.C...
