    9/17/20 Manhattan 3rd Alarm Box 0258

Being a non-NYC member (from upstate NY, North Syracuse, nothing but lots of snow) could someone explain a rear tenement. Is this building surrounded by other buildings and only accessible through alleys or another building?

    GLORY DAYS

I found this link that references the area known as "The Hole" that Johnny Gage talks about in post #237 on the Glory Days thread. Known as the worst neighborhood in NYC to this day. If things continue on the downward spiral they are currently on, other neighborhood may soon rival "The Hole"...

    8/6/20 Brooklyn 4th Alarm Box 3707

Great video THEMAJESTIRIUM! Excellent footage of roof operations. The photographers on the roof of the fire building leave me confused and speechless. I cannot believe a Chief Officer would permit this in any department for any reason. Too much risk for the Chief to assume if something were...

    GLORY DAYS

Johnny Gage, Thank you so much for the great stories of your time with the DCFD.  I grew up 50 miles south of DC in Fredericksburg, VA.  My close encounter with DCFD came in the spring of 1982.  I was picking a girlfriend up from a relatives apartment that was on Columbia Rd. in Adams Morgan. ...

FDNY and NYC Firehouses and Fire Companies

Thanks for posting about 85/59 Joe.  I have always found this to be an interesting part of FDNY history, the quick construction of metal (Butler) buildings as Firehouses.  Isn't this just a few blocks from 82/31?  So different than what many of us are use to, having companies so close together. ...

    USS Fitzgerald

I am sure most, if not all of you, on this site have been keeping up with the collision of the USS Fitzgerald and a container ship off the coast of Japan.  Seven Sailors are confirmed dead in this tragic event.  Sadly, one of the sailors killed, Gunners Mate Dakota Rigsby, was a firefighter in...

    Harrisburg LODD - LT Devoe

Mack, thank you for posting this detailed account.  Another maybe: maybe if Harrisburg policy makers adequately funded the Fire Department so there are fully staffed fire companies, and enough staffed companies on the initial alarm; the Lt. would not have needed to leave his Brother Firefighters...
