I wonder what would happen if there were no bidders? It used to be there had to be at least two bidders, but I guess that has changed. Sooner or later the "stringent specs and warranty requirements" might result in no bidders. It will be interesting to see what happens then.
It seems that online access to Department Orders is now restricted to active members. I don't know why this was done since the online orders were always "edited" anyway. Is there another way of getting them online?
All hands are not what they used to be 30 or more years ago. Today all hands are used for incidents that would never come close to being an all hands in the past. This includes both fires and emergencies.
1-1/2" hose was used in the 60's and early 70's until the introduction of 1-3/4" hose. The 1-1/2" was on the hosebed and also as rolled ups for standpipe use. Most of the time it was the initial stretch from the rig unless the volume of fire necessitated using 2-1/2". The nozzle I remember on...
Just the beginning, wait a few more months when these businesses (especially restaurants) realize they can't continue. Should be interesting, to say the least.
Nassau County PD has been encrypted for a few years. The fire departments that are not dispatched by the County (Firecom) complained and were able to get two PD portables so that they could monitor the cops.
When the money gets tight (tighter?) they will bring out all of those other plans such as cutting the manning, eliminate Chiefs Aides, quints, just to name a few. All to save $$$$. Who knows, maybe the CFC's will make a comeback.
