    1/6/26 Queens 5th Alarm Box 4037

Should be CTU1 not CTU2, right? Per the order, the 14th Division and the northern boxes in the 15th and 11th are all CTU1. If I read correctly.

    1/5/26 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 2750

This idea of an extra rescue and squad on the 4th alarm is interesting. I share the skepticism about whether it is required as mandatory (vs right now where the IC can special call based on their own assessment of conditions). One thing to note is if you buy in to the idea that rescue and...

    1/5/26 Bronx 5th Alarm Box 2750

I'll take a stab at your question: I think the view is that having a rescue and squad available on scene is important in case something goes sideways. Under normal circumstances, yes, they're doing truck work, but they'll be put to work alongside the FAST team if something goes wrong. In this...

Quite a fire. The result of just one 10-45 and a green tag at that is a credit to the amazing work of the companies

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

The short answer is no. Fire operations are the purview of the Chief of Department and those under his command. While I am sure there may be the occasional conversation between a COD and a Commissioner in cases where the Commissioner had fire experience (some do, some don't), the Commissioner's...

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

There has been a big difference from commissioner to commissioner in terms of how often they respond. From what I recall, Nigro responded to most larger incidents (5th alarm fires or major technical incidents). Kavanaugh did not respond often. Tucker on the other hand responded more than the...

    12/30/25 Brooklyn 2nd Alarm Box 3551

What are the regulations around the dispatchers giving signals, does anybody know? Obviously BK giving a 10-75 is rare, though understandable in the circumstances. Could they give a second alarm? Are there any rules around this?

    12/29/25 Bronx 2nd Alarm Box 2701

Tac 2 and CTU 2 on this. There was something about an unsafe structure came in in Queens around the time the 2-2 was transmitted here, so RB and SB were not on the initial assignment, they went 10-8 to take this in, so maybe CTU1 and TAC1 were on that other call as well.

    New Fire Commissioner Appointed

Of note, ex-commissioner and COD Nigro was on a transition panel for Mandani and in some public comments recently seemed to suggest he would be making a recommendation to the Mayor on who the next FC would be. Bonsignore was on the executive staff when Nigro was FC, and he was the first-ever...

    12/24/25 Queens 3rd Alarm Box 1464

Based on the list above, all the HP engines are either in Lower Manhattan or Western Brooklyn such that they're proximate to Lower Manhattan. Someone can correct me but I think a HP/3-stage pump would really only be required on very tall buildings, and the regular engine would be able to handle...
