New Fire Commissioner Appointed

Assuming that Chief Bonsignore is appointed under mamdani, it looks like EMS will end up staying under the FDNY, however she could make a switch if it does become a third agency. If it does stay under the FDNY, hopefully she helps improve EMS as Tucker was working on.

Although I did just hear from a member that she basically blamed all the failures on the members of EMS, so we'll see what ends up happening.

Guerra has been appointed under Adams until Mamdani takes over

Chief Bonsignore will be appointed when Mamdani takes over

Guerra hasnt done anything (at least publicly, only inner-department stuff if anything), you cant say he is either good or bad as a commissioner
True, but his experience is fire fighting & administrative, after almost 40 years on the job, all in active companies.

Remember the TV show Laugh In, actor Arte Johnson played a German soldier who would peel apart a bush and say; "Interesting...very Interesting."...Applies here. But, perhaps this new commissioner will use her strength to shore up and improve EMS relations, fingers crossed, they sure could use the help.

With who?

Not sure I understand the question...
Chief Guerra is over qualified so it appears that he certainly would not have a place in the new Mandami regime! Regarding Lillian, all I can say is "puppet"! Just my narrow minded view of the subject. Merry Christmas all!

Shore up & improve EMS relations with who or whom?
Within their own rank and file, primarily concerning severe understaffing, low pay (pay disparity with firefighters), burnout, and discrimination claims, leading to ongoing union battles, recruitment/retention problems, and even proposals to separate EMS from the FDNY to achieve better recognition and resources. Big job ahead of her.

Of note, ex-commissioner and COD Nigro was on a transition panel for Mandani and in some public comments recently seemed to suggest he would be making a recommendation to the Mayor on who the next FC would be. Bonsignore was on the executive staff when Nigro was FC, and he was the first-ever Chief of EMS following the merger. Pure speculation but it seems plausible this choice was at least partly his idea. All the best to the new FC.
