RET FAD BRIAN J. OHARA CADO UNIT....WTC RELATED.

So many great dispatchers we have been previleged to talk with over the years, only knowing them by their numbers.. Too bad we didn;t know their names as well. I wish when they publish them on a Department Order, they would also include their dispatcher number.

Brooklyn 5th alarm Commercial Fire 3/11/26 Box 2671

I think their rationale is that, since it was put in service primarily for airport/foam relays, consider the situation where it would be operating at the 5th alarm, and a crash box is transmitted for LGA, and the plane has a bad landing with a fuel tank rupture. What do they do now, besides...

To think, not that long ago, Marine 8 probably would have been Exposure #4 on 52nd St. Strange to see 3 engines and 2 trucks s/c from S.I.

E,275 had a hydrant on the Exp. 4 side, but no siamese to supply. The only combo siamese was at the Exp. 2 corner. The closest hydrant was across from the middle of the bldg. at about the 150 ft. mark. I wonder if Fire Prevention was ever consulted so that common sense would say to install the...

    E287 L136 B46 Then & Now

Looks like they'll never relocate a tiller rig there, since they're roughly 58 ft. long. Also a 85' T/L is about 46 ft.. Looks like 136 bay is about 30 ft.

Apparently since DOITT basically took over alarm assignment, many companies that used to be 2nd or 3rd due are now in the 2nd alarm assignment. Ladder 125 used to be 2nd due at E.305's home box; now I think they're 2nd alarm truck (4th due)

2 BC's, 4 trucks and 3 engines requested over the 4th alarm, and the 5th wasn't transmitted?? I presume they weren't for relief purposes..

Thankfully, only one member needed transport to the hospital. I'll say it again - putting the FAST truck to work will someday bite some chief in the ass. I don't have access to the NYFIRS fire time line history, but I'm curious to know if the collapse occurred prior to the arrival, AND proper...

Bob, every Division in the city has a Squad . . . .except the 3rd Division. With the proliferation of Li-Ion devices flooding the city, in a fantasy world - it would be ideal if each Division could also have it's own HasMat company. And while you're at it, how about a Rescue company for each...

    Resorce Unit Leader

That being the case, if he's managing remaining units on hand as well, why the need for a Battalion chief to be a staging manager at the staging area, since everyone wears a radio and is in communication with the command post on any number of designated frequencies.

Since EMS also has a staging area and a response assignment on each alarm, has that eliminated the required response of Car 32 or 33 to multiple alarms?

These chiefs still don't understand why certain procedures were put in place. Maybe they should do some remedial reading at night. Some day, putting the FAST TRUCK to work instead of using any standby resources to do temporary truck work until an additional truck company arrives, is going to...

Not only that, but requesting an additional fast truck means that they will take some time to get there; they will probably have to park at least two blocks away and drag everything through the streets to get to the front of the building; then have to do a complete 6-sided size up on their own...

I can remember a loooong time ago when the AUC came out, that 1 3/4" hose could be used only when compatible with fire conditions. Do you think the amount of water being used due to hose size may be inadequate? I remember when we had to stretch 2 1/2" in P.Ds for the first line. Big water =...

Don't promote bush league. More professional to block the car in with the rig until the PD tow truck can hook him and drag it to the impound lot. the $250 to get your car back on top of the summons $$ will hurt more than an insurance policy that has full glass coverage.
