    Yonkers, NY- 4th Alarm 12-16-23

I believe Hartsdale also relocated an engine to Station 13.

    New Seagraves

Interesting. Firehouse Expo is next week in Columbus, OH and no major manufacturers other then Sutphen (who is based in Columbus) are going. Sometimes they leave it to the dealers to rent a booth but strange that neither opted to show up to either show.

    Rescue 4

There is no "perfect" manufacturer. Alot of the problems tie back to the specs. The salesman will give you anything you want, it's up to the truck committee to do their homework and know what will and won't work. I know the FDNY is extremely diligent in their specs, but that also leads to...

New Haven, Ct Building Collapse 6/2/23

Out of curiosity, aside from Rescue 1, are there other companies trained for technical rescue in New Haven? I know they used to run 2 Squads up until they put the Rescue in service. Do they have any support units like a box truck or trailers that carry additional equipment to support the...

    Charlotte, NC 5th Alarm 05/18/23

Looks like were using light weight trusses throughout. Hasn't NYC been approving "vertical lumberyard" high rises like this for a while now?

    5/14/23 Bronx 3rd Alarm Box 3890

Is Mount Vernon on scene too? Only a few doors in from the city line.

Who remembers the old Ring Saw

The Ring Saw is still carried by many Rescue's and USAR Teams for concrete cutting.

4/17/23 Port Chester NY 3rd Alarm

There’s plenty of manpower that are on duty 24/7 ( New Rochelle, White Plains, Greenburgh, Scarsdale, Stamford etc.) and a hell of a lot closer than Bedford or Yorktown. I guess given PC’s history it wouldn’t look good to call paid firefighters to your scene after they laid off 8 of them.

4/17/23 Port Chester NY 3rd Alarm

Yorktown - 31 miles to the relocate for an Engine Bedford Hills - 21 miles to the scene for a "Special Call" Tower Ladder Mount Kisco - 20 miles to relocate Ossining - 20 miles for a Tower Ladder This fire should lead to a study on mutual aid in Westchester. I guess New Rochelle or White...

    FDNY Lt. Curran Annual Seminar

Does anyone know if the Burn Foundation still runs their annual seminar at The Rock? They always put on a great show.

    New/replacement firehouses

I believe there was talk about putting Rescue 1 in a new house capable of housing the frontline & spare rescues as well as the collapse rescue (similar to Rescue 2 & 3's new houses). Not sure how serious that discussion was.

    New Rescues ?

Does anyone have a pdf of the manufacturer's drawings for the 2nd generation Ferrara rescues?

FD pays 975k for fire truck it won’t see until 2026

I believe they added Paccar as an alternative option to Cummins when Detroit bailed on the fire apparatus market. Pierce has an exclusive partnership with Detroit up until then.

FD pays 975k for fire truck it won’t see until 2026

They are scrapping the Quantum too. My guess is low demand. I think the Velocity has become a far more popular option for the 100" wide cab.

FD pays 975k for fire truck it won’t see until 2026

The icing on the cake is that there will be another EPA update for exhaust emissions around 2026. Cummins has already announced the new X10 motor to replace the L9 and X12 as a result. Pierce has unofficially retired the Arrow XT chassis due to the new motor not being able to fit. They've...

Yonkers, NY- General Alarm Fire 03-08-23

That's not true. Yonkers can call whoever they choose to. Most of the career departments in Southern Westchester, including Yonkers, have mutual aid plans in place so there is a specific order of who gets called and what house they get assigned to on the relocate. In Yonkers, usually 2 & 2 are...

Looks like it ran 4-5 stories. So much for being a "Fire Resistive" building.

Fire Departments That Don't Use Standard (NST) Hose Threads

Many older cities had their own threads as they were developed before National Standard became a thing. I think after the Great Baltimore Fire was the turning point where the need to standardize was identified. In Westchester, there's National Standard, NY Corp and FDNY plus a few other odd...

    New Rescues ?

The Collapse Rescues are getting up there in age but that would only be 5. Rescues and Haz Mat all have new rigs. Maybe bigger rigs for the SOC Support Ladders? Otherwise, maybe it's something for EMS.
