I agree with you totally on the Draeger. All American SCBA have regulator hose coming over left shoulder and gauge/ info panel with buttons coming over right shoulder. After years of use it is amazing the muscle memory that is created. Everything from silencing a pass to taking the pack off...

What was the member of TL bucket doing by himself in the bucket with bucket doors open, helmet off and sitting on the floor of the bucket as it moved up and down and side to side (long before they flowed any water) At first I thought the member was having a heat emergency and was about to pass...

I did not know that. Thanks

Legend has it that mayor Fiorello LaGuardia who was a huge fire buff, wanted to know what was going on and how things were progressing in order to decide if he was going to take the box in as a buff. Thus the advent of the progress reports. At least that’s what was told to me

Yep. I’m getting them as well. Very annoying

Better to have everyone coming and then cancel them then to arrive and discover you need them asap

The arsonist probably returned to finish the job

Randolph Mantooth who played firefighter paramedic Johnny Gage on the TV series Emergency passed away today at age 80. He and the show were an inspiration to many of us to pursue this great calling of ours. I had the pleasure of meeting Randolph several years ago at a training conference...

Yep been a dramatic increase in catastrophic mega warehouse fires nationwide. Much to be learned from these events.

I just finished reading the ebook “Torched”. It is about the EPIC failures of the City of Los Angeles, the California Governor’s Office, and to some extent the Los Angeles CITY Fire Department during the Jan 2025 Palisades Fire. It graphically depicts how social polices were made a priority over...

Why. What was the reason(s) for disqualification

So the big question is……. Who are doing the FDNY evaluations? True evaluations would be to bring in 4 engines and 4 ladder companies- train them with factory reps at the firehouses each tour and have them use them under actual combat conditions for 30 days. Then repeat for the second vendor...

I hope not but it is not surprising. Scott builds a great pak. The face mask design was always better than the rest for busy urban firefighting. While others were using 5 pull straps, if you preset your own straps, the Scott face piece can be rapidly donned like a ball cap. Field of vision...

I have a feeling they will be out there until sometime tommorow. Reminds me of the fire in the shooting range on Middletown Road in Pearl River a few years back when every department in Rockland rotated through except for 5 and 14 I think.
