    Nassau County fires

Does anyone know how many “Working Fires” Nassau County gets per year? I ask because I see a lot of posts for Nassau County fires. Is Nassau much like southern/eastern Queens as far as construction and population?

    NYCFIRE.NET

This site is excellent. I wish this was available to me when I started this journey many years ago. I have learned more from this site in 5 + years than I did in all the years before I found it. The discussions, the videos, and overall coverage of Fire/EMS is really incredible!

City of Pittsburgh Fire and EMS Bureaus

I am heading to Pittsburgh on business. As always, I look up to get an idea of the fire and ems service provided. The fire and ems are separate services, with the FD doing first response. Queens Box 7631 - All-Hands / Under Control (Delayed)

I heard B49 transmit the “all-hands, under control” between 2 & 4 a.m. for a dryer fire. If anyone wants to listen to the playback and post the basics, including time and box number, I’ll update the thread‘s tag line. (Never posted an incident before…)

New York City Vs. Westchester & Nassau

This thought came to me after reading about the run survey and business of departments. Here is what I can’t seem to figure out. I have no numbers to back this up, but it seems as if structure fires drop dramatically once you pass over the county lines into Westchester and Nassau Counties. Yet...

    Apparatus Relocations

I have read a lot about relocations within FDNY. I was a dispatcher in a very busy mutual aid center that had to move many pieces during fires. Whether it’s small towns, medium cities or large cities like New York, the concept is the same: To move available apparatus to cover firehouses in one...

    Brooklyn/Queens Responses

I heard Brooklyn dispatch 3E, 2L, 1BC to smoke in the building in Queens. Granted some of the Queens companies may have been tied up. But does anyone know if there are border boxes in Brooklyn or Queens where the whole regular assignment comes from the other borough?
