09-21-12 Bronx- Unusal Occurrence (Bronx Zoo)

This happened several years ago at a Chicago area zoo, neither my wife or myself could remember the zoo. A lady climbed a fence around "Wild Animals", they have the fence to protect them from idiot people. She suffered serious injuries, the animal was put down, it had tasted/smelled blood. Well if you come into my house you play by my rules. People were really upset, attendance took a hit. I was watching a reality show this week, a guy wrecked his sister's car and caused X amount of damage. His defense was it was not his car, why should he pay? Guess the animals have more sense than the humans. Glad to see the score Tigers 1, Insane Idiot 0. >:( >:( >:( ;D ;D ;D :( :( :(

I vaguely remember a similiar situtation happening before in the Bronx Zoo also. Anybody remember that.

One night in 1987 a kid jumped the fence into the polar bear habitat at Prospect Park Zoo and was killed by the bear(s).  There was rumor that another kid may have been in there and ESU was there with quite a display of firepower

Please tell me the polar bears were not hurt, my house, my rules. Yes I am a animal friend with 2 dogs, seems like stupidity is unique to humans. And the zoo puts fences up to protect the citizens, I beleive it is to protect the animals from humans. Thankfully the bear was not put down. Again my house my rules >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >

Sorry about the species, screw with them and they will screw with you. I confused the 2 incidents, sorry. Well box score is Bears 1, Tigers 1, human -2. And a human feels lucky??

Article in yesterday's Daily News quoted the Bronx Zookeeper as saying that the Tiger will NOT be put down, as it did NOTHING WRONG!

I'm glad to hear that the tiger won't be punished as a result of this incident.

The fool - yes FOOL that decided it would be a bright idea to take a leap into this animal's den should not only be criminally charged - but also repay the zoo and city for all the costs associated with his rescue...and permanently banned from the zoo.

The animal was only reacting to what it surely must have perceived as a threat; a different species invading its space.  This guy should be counting his lucky stars that the tiger didn't have a bigger appetite on that particular day ;).
