Nasty How ? Placement of the buildings ? Plenty of fire duty there in the 70's .

Yes.....70s, early 80s upper west side did have a lot of fire duty.  I believe e76 May have been #1 at one point in time.  Since then , the UWS has cleaned up a lot, but Manhattan Ave always seemed to be the most run down with a lot of potential when I was there.
