This fire building is down the block - in the shadow of - 333 East 181 where the deadly hi-rise fire occurred 2 years ago this week. 17 were killed.

The discussion of the 5th Alarm 10-77 Box 3162, in the shadow of this Box 3161 and the video shot Tuesday by THEMAJESTIRIUM1, reminded me of the Featured Article in WNYF that detailed and summarized fire operations from the perspective of the City Wide Tour Commander, Frank Leeb.

Leeb was Acting Chief of Training at the time of the fire at Box 3162. Most recently, he was Acting Chief of Safety. Leeb's discussions of fires, operations and "big picture" issues was always interesting and thought provoking. I haven't heard or seen much of DAC Leeb in recent months and I am wondering what his status currently is with the FDNY.

Chief Leeb is Car 12D. He is Deputy Asst Chief of Safety Command. Chief Myers is back at Car 12.

Thanks for the feedback. As part of the Safety Command is DAC Leeb still in the rotation of DAC and AC to serve as City Wide Tour Commander?
He seemed comfortable and well-suited to function in that role.

Safety is not in rotation of citywide tour commanders…. Car 12 Myers is doing CWTC for now as there is a lack of CWTCs.

So Myers is in fact now Car 12 and no longer 4C acting 12?

And how is there a lack of CWTCs? Is there that many vacant Chief spots right now?!

Yes Myers is now Car 12. Not vacant spots has something to do with something else. I’ll leave it at that.
