10/10/25 - McEwen, Tennessee Ammunition Factory Explosion

Hmmmmm. Oil refineries and munitions factories blowing up all over Russia. Now the same is beginning to happen here?

In 2014, another deadly explosion at this plant killed one and injured four:

The plant that exploded today manufactured C-4, TNT and other explosives . . .

Reminds me of the 6 firemen who were killed in Kansas City during 1988 (36 years ago). They responded to a vehicle fire in the middle of the night at a remote construction sight. As the two companies arrived , 50,000 lbs of ANFO being stored on site detonated. The members didn’t have a clue or a chance. The fire was arson and the 5 men responsible are serving life sentences. All that was left from one of the engines was the pump and power train. May these six men continue to rest in peace

Ray, I don't think they manufactured any explosives per SE but manufactured explosive components using what you mentioned. Regardless, end result is the same.

This explosion happened at Accurate Energetic Systems. Most of their work is for military ordnance such as land mines and demolition charges . The explosion took place in Building 602, which was used for non-military production. They melt TNT and mix it with more potent PETN which is casted into soup can size charges which are added to blasting agents. These are used in mining, oil and gas exploration and avalanche control. There were an estimated 28,000 pounds of high explosives in the building. For safety, wool clothes, phones, electronics, and metal tools are not allowed in work areas. Often the factory floors are kept wet to reduce sparking. It wasn't enough.
