Was Obviously An Error On Dispatchers Side.. R2 Was On The Box.

In my years with E 248, we were always 2nd due at that box. Straight run down Flatbush Avenue from the old house; straight run down Nostrand Avenue from the new house. But times change as do assignments.

Box 2431,was or is located at Flatbush Ave. & Hiller Place. A few feet from Flatbush and Nostrand Aves. I lived and Buffed in that area from childhood, born 1946, till 1974. The conflict is correct the response time for E-248 normally would be better than for E-281. Does anyone remember the "255 Club" that was located on Rogers Ave, just to the rear and north of E-255/TL-157 Quarters. I was too young, then, to be a member, but they let me come to a few meetings in what I remember as the second floor of an old carriage house. The 255 Club had a patch, and years ago I had one God knows what ever happen to it. E-255 was one of the first units in FDNY to get Mack 'C" Pumper in the early1960s.
Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired.

I was around for the 255 club. Remember the canteen unit they operated. E 248 had a 1958 Mack C 1000 GPM pumper. Went to E 244 for a while before returning to E 248.

So they had a clubhouse on the lot next to the firehouse? That was a 200x150 vacant lot for many years. As of a few years ago, it’s now a massive MD.

Look on website 1940s NYC. Few shots of old building (possibly 255 club held there) and possibly a storage area right next to 255/157 quarters exposure 2 side. Then down block more see an
Stretch of old garages.
1980,s view on same website has the old building next to 255 gone and it’s a parking area. Forget if the parking area was owned or rented by the church next to their quarters on exp 4 side and they’d let guys park there.
That lasted for awhile until someone said they got hurt in the lot and sued the owner. End of FD parking in there.
Yes now large MD

I remember the 255 Club being in existence back when.....I was not a Member.....I also remember the 77 Club.....BKLYN Supervising Dispatcher Bob LePage took a fellow Buff friend & I to a few visits to the 77 Club many years ago ...(very early '60s.... some great FDNY Memorabilia & Photos were on display) I seem to remember it being on a 2nd or 3rd Fl in a loft type or commercial bldg. on Bridge St not far from the now FDNY HQ Metrotech ....(back then FDNY HQ was on the 11th Fl in the Municipal Bldg in lower Manh.).... I also think the old 77 Club may have been in the bldg / fl that was later occupied by Hank Hahl's United Insignia after he moved from Gold St in Lower Manh......when I went to United Insignia in the '80's on Bridge St BKLYN it sure looked like the same bldg / floor. as the old 77 Club....United is now located in ASTORIA QNS https://www.unitedinsignia.com/about-us. ....I dont know if it is still owned by the Hahl Family. but I think Hank's Son took over at one point....Hank was a FF in ? ...then a FF in R*2 around '61 / '62... then a LT in ENG*46.
