No Second Alarm....originally was box 302 for a Fire "on the roof" of Terminal 3....as Units were responding to the Terminal the Port Authority ordered thru the QNS Disp that all Units were to stage at Bldg 269 & await an escort....BN*51 after finally arriving at the Terminal gave a 10-75 for a Fire in the old terminal 3 presently under demolition.....this was another example of the PA "flexing muscles"....the staging & escort was in the past only used when operations were required OFF the roadways....For Alarms at a Terminal or other street location w/in the Airport the Units went directly to the location....some Units can enter the airport from the East end....making them enter from the Van Wyck to go to Bldg 269 causes a delay .....at todays Fire the PA had some escorts for the 1st & 2nd Due Units then stopped sending escorts back to 269...after DV*13 arrived at 269 & found no escort he ordered the remaining responding Units to go directly to the Terminal the way they always did.....the same "flexing" took place yesterday at LAG when box 47 was transmitted for a gas leak at the Terminal...the PA ordered thru the QNS Disp that Units stage at the Airport Entrance rather than responding directly to the Alarm Location.....i have responded to both Airports many many times over the years & i know this "flexing" will eventually result in something serious.....granted ecorts are needed when leaving the street areas but response to bldg locations should not be delayed.
It's really dangerous to have the 'square badges' from the P.A. as the decision makers as to whether or not they will allow the professionals to respond during potentially life threatening emergencies.

*Square Badges* Meaning Port Auth. of NY & NJ Police Department ? ??? It's One
Thing to 'Passionately' Disagree with an Agency's Policy, but to demean The Job or Work
of Police Officers performing an extremely vital Mission is rather Crude & Pointless.
I'm sure the PA S.O.P is Not the Idea of the Officers who have to enforce it.
Also, just FYI, as a 'Square Badge' Security Officer working in NYC, I Arrested several
Career Felons, including a Serial Rapist wanted by the NYPD Sex Crimes Unit, a Violent
Mugger wanted by the Major Case Unit who'd stabbed and Seriously Wounded at least
6 Victims at various Manhattan locations and eluded Police Capture twice, and a Mugger
who'd Robbed an Off-Duty Detective, and Recovered her Gun & NYPD Shield. staj
These are just the units I heard in the radio, missing everything before the 10-75.
B51, 10-75(L173FAST, E331, D13, R4, B54, Sq288), HM, HMB, SB, Sq270HAZEC,
I thought I also heard the 51 report that a PA crash truck had water on the fire. As far as I have known, they have no responsibility for structural fires on their properties, correct?
