2.7 COMMUNICATIONS MANUAL, CHAPTER 8 Effective August 19, 2019
Communications Manual, Chapter 8, titled Radio Communications dated July 8, 2008, is amended, as follows: Add: New Signal 10-29, to read:
10-29 Elevator Emergency Code 1: Occupied
Code 2: Unoccupied
Affected pages 9-10 (Rev. 08/19/19) reflecting this change have been issued to all Bureaus and Divisions for
equal distribution to all units under their command.

Why would they even need a code for a unoccupied elevator call?  Why would they even respond to such a call? Sounds like a call for an elevator repair man, not the fire department.

It does not usually come in as "unoccupied" ...that is only found out after responding....tons of them each year....this will be a way to classify them.

one of the statistics asked for by the brass and city hall are the amount of elevator emergencies responded to during periods of high activity and weather events. The signal was requested by BOC to help with the statistics reporting

Even if unoccupied, we still have tasks to perform, like making sure outer doors are closed and getting to elevator machinery room to shut power off so that it doesnt move or take on a passenger and then fail.
