Major gas explosion with fire in a 3 story 20x60 brick mixed occupancy.

1308 - E-282 - We have a confirmed gas explosion at 13 Ave & 42 Street.  We have heavy fire in a 3 story MD.

1309 - E-282 - 2nd Alarm on Arrival.

L-122 FAST

1310 - E-282 - "Urgent" - 10-60 the box.

1312 - Bn. 48 - All Hands - 2nd Alarm - The front of the building has collapsed.

1318 - E-284 - Involved in a major accident at 44 Street and 14 Avenue.  We need EMS.

1319 - Bn. 48 - We have 3 story mixed occupancy, fire throughout.

1326 - E-330 - We are at the scene of E-284's accident, we will take the Satellite.

1328 - FCB - Staging at E-282 quarters.

1330 - Div. 11 - There was an inadvertent may day.  We are also having water pressure problems.

1331 - Div. 11 - We have 1 10-45 no code.

1332 - Div. 11 - The mayday was given for lost water pressure.  Exposure 4 is unstable.

1333 - Div. 11 - We have heavy fire in the rear, 2 L/S/O, fire is darkening down.

1334 - FC - Assign 2 additional Trucks, make 1 a Tower Ladder (TL-149, TL-157).

1344 - Bn. 43 - We are at the accident with Engine 284.  This is a minor accident, we will remain on scene.

1402 - FC per Car 9 - We had a gas explosion causing the front facade to colapse.  We have a gas fed fire in the rear of the fire building, MBFKD. We have (1) 10-45 code 1 that has not been removed from the fire building.  Continuing to operate lines in the building.  DWH - Duration 58 minutes.

1410 - FC - We have 4 total 10-45's. (1) code 1,(1) code 2, (2) code 4's.

1424 - FC - Transmit the 3rd Alarm.

1438 - FC - Per Car 3, Special Call 3 Trucks and 2 Battalions (L-113, H&L-104 act. 109, L-168, B-57, B-31)

1439 - FC - Fire has extended into the cockloft of exposure 4.  Re-positioning Tower Ladders and awaiting Con-Ed. DWH - Duration 1 hour 36 minutes.

1443 - FC - Special call another Tower Ladder (TL-161).

1502 - FC - Transmit a 4th Alarm.

1506 - FC - We have heavy fire in exposure 4.  Setting up additional Tower Ladders.  Conducting primary searches in Exposures 2A, 2B, & 2C. DWH

1513 - FC - Relocate a Squad to Staten Island (S-41).

1530 - FC - 2 Tower Ladders, 1 multi-versal, 4 handlines, and 1 deck gun are all in operation. Secondaries are negative in exposures 2A, 2B, 2C, & 2D. Gas has been shut off at the street.  DWH - Duration 2 hours 26 minutes.   

1538 - FC - Special call 2 SOC Support Ladders, one should be TL-77 (H&L-175 & TL-77).  We will be returning Rescue 5, therefore you can cancel the relocation of Squad 41. L-122 will be relieved as FAST Truck by H&L-104.

1659 - FC - PWH - Duration 3 hours 55 minutes. At 1800, special call 2 SOC Support Trucks and 1 Squad.

1710 - FC - Special call E-233 w/ Mobile Command.

1730 - FC - Also at 1800, special call 5 Engines, 2 Tower Ladders, 1 FAST Truck, and 2 Battalions.

1805 - FC - Return the 2 SOC Trucks and Squad (TL-117, L-169, Sq-288).

1808 - FC - Under Control - Transmit a 5th Alarm for relief purposes. duration 4 hours, 4 minutes.

-13:24 Command Exposure 4 all members exit the building
-13:25 Exposure 4 is starting to go
-13:26 giving up on Exposure 4 back the line out
-13:27 there's an aerial here 42nd and 13th we could start protecting exposures
-13:28 EMS MB2572 advising 3 patients...2 green tags transported to H53 by Hatzolah and 1 black tag
-13:30 no fire in the cockloft at this time
-13:33 there's a ladder on 42nd and 13th ave, if we could get a line with it to the roof it would greatly assist in knocking down fire in exposure 3
-13:34 42Safety no fire in exposure 3, collapse of a setback in the rear of the fire building
-13:34 EMS Car 5 responding to the 10-60
-13:40 chiefs make sure your aid is on the command channel
-13:41 EMS Car 5 S/C an additional Rescue Ambulance to the box (35R)
-13:42 252 to 40 negative extension to cockloft in exposure 2. There doesn't appear to be any major extension
-13:51 EMS Deputy 553 I have 1 yellow tag civilian from the accident going to H51. I'm heading to the 10-60
-13:51 EMS HazTac on Fireground you got Rescue Medics on Exposure 4 if and when you need them
-13:53 EMS Car 5 I'm about 10 mins out, no need for the Division Commander. Car 553 what's the staging and CP location? (Staging is 13th Ave and 44rd Street. CP is at 4207 13th Ave)
-13:58 40 to Command, partner saw on the roof of the setback of exposure 2, there's a lot of water on int and I'm concerned about it's structural integrity
-14:03 negative on the primary search on the top and second floor of exposure 2
-14:06 it's blowing out pretty good in the fire building, I think it might be gas fed
-14:07 EMS MB2572 1 green tag firefighter, 1 green tag civilian, 1 red tag civilian, and 1 black tag civilian
-14:12 EMS MB2572 we have the following sectors. C63 is Treatment, C40 is Triage, C38 is Staging, and C58 is Tracking
-15:03 EMS MB2572 fire operations continue, potential remains high to public safety personnel. Still 5 patients. 1 black, 1 red, 3 green tags. We're going to hold with our current complement of units 1 hour 41 mins
-15:04 EMS MB2572 this incident is going to a Fourth Alarm but we're going to hold with the current assignment

Nice rundown guys. Yet another gas explosion - scary stuff.

Ladder 148 normally first due with 282. Quarters are only one block away

Picture #122 I think, i think it's like 12th from the bottom. it is an aerial picture of tops engines 240 (Seagrave) and 228 (KME). It's a pretty rare photo in my opinion, as both of there ladder racks are empty. I don't remember seeing many photos of an engine utilizing there 24' extension never mind two at the same job.
