It’s a 2002 and was used as BFU 4 and was used on Gov Island. It sits outside and it’s very cold.engine 161 brush truck is a 2006 ford so I see why it wouldn’t start
Reported to be deep in woods so probably no pics.Pictures?
Richmond Emgine Vollies posted on FB that they were there operating.Richmond Engine 1 - volunteers ?
When I was with WHB, before the new building was built and after the old 1 was knocked down, the engines were parked in a chain link fence enclosure. We dumped the tanks and pump, brought the extinguishers and eventually nozzles inside so they didn't freeze. I would imagine FDNY would do the same especially if it's a poly tank that could split.View attachment 26066
Question - If extra rigs (e.g. - brush units) are parked outside - are tanks kept filled in cold weather or do they have to be filled for response?
All the tanks on each BFU are empty for winter season besides the ones kept inside. I believe when it has a crew during the brush season they keep it full. For engines that are outside now like E287 & E3 chauffeur is suppose to run the pump every hour or 2 over night.View attachment 26066
