SI announcing phone alarm box 2593, South Avenue @ Industrial Road, fire in a commercial building

"
Fly High" Trampoline Park

SQ8 to SI: 10-75 the box

CIDS: 501 Industry Road, Commercial 2-story 150x350 Class 5, fully sprinklered, solar panels, no roof operations, must use search rope. Sprinkler shut-off in mezzanine of "Fly High."

Long runs for all companies to this box...desolate and industrial part of SI.

TL87's 2nd piece (L-87 CPC) rig was also 10-84. Don't see that out too often.

I wonder what was on fire. I don't see anything in the Advance.

How long of a run is this for 168 time wise. I know distance is a hike for all but would think they could get in pretty quick with a straight highway drive.

At this time, maps says 8 minutes - 4.5 miles. It is definitely an easy/straight run on the West Shore EXPWY

I didn’t see anything on SILIVE.com either. From citizen video it looks like there was already a good smoke condition emitting from the building when first due TL86 arrives. Sprinklers were activated and made good work.

The only thing that slows up 168 getting on the West Shore Expwy. N/B is that when they leave quarters the have to go down Rossville Ave. to Arthur Kill Rd., make a right on Arthur Kill and take that up a ways, go under the West Shore and then left onto the highway. Same goes to getting to the highway S/B only they don't have to go under highway to access an on ramp.

I gotta think 80 truck could get there much quicker than 85. Maybe further mileage wise but that's a long haul for 85

You are probably right about the time, but by distance, L 85 is closer. 4.6 miles vs 5.3 miles. Rockland Avenue is direct but slow. L79 is 5.1 miles but roads are slow.

West Shore of SI has single engine companies - E158, E168 and used to be E154 (now Squad 8). Truck response into West Shore locations has always been a concern. As I remember, former E154 (now Squad 8) firehouse on Victory was built for an engine and truck in the early 1970s.

Going back even further, in the 1950s, the single engine on the East Shore - E152, E161 (L81 was at E159) - were issued Quads with ladder company ladders and equipment. But not E158 the single West Shore engine. But they did issue Quads to L76 and L82.

Guess I'll show my age by saying I vividly remember 251 and 312 with their Quads. They were impressive looking rigs at the time.
