SI also had L 78 assigned to respond as a rescue to cover all SI - Rescue 5- in the late 1940s through early 1960s.  If L 78 was not available because they were on a Rescue 5 run, you only had L 77 to cover a lot of North Shore area as the only available truck company.  E 161, E 160 (no rescue), E 154 (Hannah St), E 156, E 152 all were single engine companies.  And no VN Bridge to send units from Brooklyn.  They had to take the 69th Street Ferry.

On the other end of SI, two South Shore truck companies were operating with Quads - L 76 and L 82.  SI had both engine companies and truck companies assigned Quads.

G-man, are these your stomping grounds?
I used to live closer than Gman.I lived a block from W.Fingerboard & Clove and the fire was 3 blocks from there.I passed that at least 5 times a week on the way to the old Delfini's Maekrt on Hylan Blvd and Allendale.
