Way too many officers
When a collapse occurs with firefighters inside and operating, we need as many credible eyes on the scene as possible. A gigantic 100 year old building which has had some type of failure has all types of harmful byproducts to firefighters.

Hazmat, asbestos, electrical, gas, the list is endless. These things all need a separate person to deal with them during an extremely emotional moment for us. Not to mention the possibility of ANOTHER collapse exists. The men inside the structure often have a hard time identifying signs of another collapse due to there being no visibility and extreme noise.

Collapse is the greatest danger to the most important component of this department- the FIREFIGHTERS operating. And it deserves all the attention it gets from these world renowned Chiefs.

I'm talking in general
Since you’ve stated you have forgotten more than most of us will ever know. Please educate us on why there’s too many chiefs and officers. We will all wait. We’re just going to grab some popcorn. And this isn’t the thread to start Monday morning quarterbacking operations and how many chiefs are too many. 3 brothers could’ve been hurt a lot worse than they were.
