Visy Paper 4435 Victory Blvd.
19:31 10-75 for fire in the pit.
19:34 fire in pit is contained by Visy staff. Visy staff are leading FDNY to another area where there is supposed to be fire.
19:37 Bn 22 reporting All Hands.
19:37 Div 8 requests extra engine and tower ladder.
19:40 Duration 20 minutes. Both areas of fire are now knocked down
19:42 probably will hold.

It is a pit where the paper is being processed for recycling. Not sure of what actually occurs in it.

The pit in that building is an area where the processing of all the crap that gets dumped in there from trucks. It’s a huge area loaded with paper and whatever other assorted crap gets brought there and a big claw type crane (think arcade games where you’re trying to pickup some prize) picks it up and puts into different areas for sorting and processing.

Many of the fires at Visy Paper and other recycling companies occur because of improper disposal of Lithium Ion batteries.
