Late to the party don't have much info...But that's a lot of special called units. Rather than making it a greater alarm

Let me start by saying, I wasn’t there. I am sure the chiefs have a MUCH better handle on the situation than I could ever hope to achieve!

With that being said, I am very curious why they special called so many units instead of transmitting a second alarm? I hope someone can shed some light on it just for learning purposes.

I am wondering if it was because they knew they weren’t going to need the 2nd Deputy, Air Recon Chief, or the 2nd Rescue? Those alone are a commitment of resources that may have not been necessary, but again, I defer to the chiefs.

Answering 1&1 in part, from the call log: “
05:37 - D3: I see a number of extra Trucks on the Box, was that called for by B9
05:37 - MD: per dispatch policy for Mega Hi-Rise b'ldgs. (2) add'l Trucks & (1) add'l BC are assigned”. Correct?

I see that, thank you.

Also I see the log provided by 8060 Rock. All the Special Call engines were called after the Under Control was given. Ladders and Battalions can be called in any number “until the cows come home” without striking another alarm.

2nd Alarm 10-76 gives a Extra Rescue, Squad, Division and a lot more units then normal since it’s a commercial high rise and it’s a Mega High Rise.
