Overheard an exchange on this call which I found hard to understand. I know there are a lot of dispatchers and current and retired members on here who could perhaps provide their thoughts. The exchange went like this:

QNS to D13, R4 is still in Manhattan returning so we've assigned R2.
D13 to QNS, 10-4
<a few minutes later>
R4 to QNS, we're out of the midtown tunnel, its our borough, send us a ticket
QNS to R4, 10-4
QNS to R2, return
QNS to D13, R2 replacing R4

Given that R2 had a substantial head start and given this was in Jamaica, they appear to have quite clearly been well ahead of R4. Why isn't the answer to R4 "I don't care whose borough it is, we're sending the closest rig, 10-2 R4". Am I missing something? I understand the desire from R4 to get into as many jobs as possible, particularly on their own turf, but I was surprised to hear QNS allow that given it appeared R2 was well ahead. Again, I come at this from a place of asking for perspective as I acknowledge perhaps there's a piece to this puzzle I'm not aware of. Thanks

Im sure someone on R4 knows a couple of chiefs that would give the Dispatchers a hard time, or even knew the Dispatchers, but it could also just be the human monkey brain assuming that since R4 is from queens they are probably closer.
