I watched the video but didn’t listen. Maybe he answers the question.

Does FDNY respond 2nd engine, 2nd ladder & a squad on confirmed pins only on highways?

John, you are a true professional at what you do. You always get close enough but never in the way, you move around to try to get the best spot, you use discretion when patients are involved and you have developed a great rapport with the members. A tip o da helmet to ya buddy. Merry Christmas!

The normal vehicle accident response is usually 1 and 1. Additional info and the dispatchers may add say a rescue or a squad based in what's being told to them. That's on normal streets. On divided highways, the response is 2 and 2 with a chief. The reason is that units come from both directions, so if 1 direction is backed up due to the incident, at least 1 set of units should arrive onscene. Queens box 8404 for example, covers Crossbay Blvd to Lefferts and towards Brooklyn Pennsylvania Ave irc. So a call for an accident between the Blvd and Lefferts on the Belt, would be 331/173 going east and 302/155 heading west. Whoever gets there first wins. Batt would be the 51 coming from 308.

Regular Response for MVA/Pin is 1&1 Btn., Rescue
If Arriving Units Report 'Confirmed Pin', Additional 1&1, & Squad.
