New London ― Two firefighters were injured fighting a two-alarm fire on Friday that severely damaged the home of a family of four. The fire occurred at a two-story raised ranch at 238 Thames St. Fire...

Another fire for the south end of New London. This district (Engine 3) is mainly residential. Most of the homes are pre-1930’s, but obviously there are some raised ranches and newer homes sprinkled in on this dead end street.

Initial assignment for reported fires in NL is all on-duty companies: E3, E1, E2, T2, both ambulances and the Battalion Chief. The transmission of a 2nd alarm brings in mutual aid coverage and two off duty platoons. Today, many of the off duty platoon members covered spare apparatus and covered the city until on-duty units went available from the fire.

One injured member sustained a burn to the wrist and was released. The other was injured when a ceiling collapsed on him. His injuries are not believed to be serious.
