I have a copy of thr 1975 FDNY unit location chart. I would like to post this info for the members but I do not know how. If interested please help :(

I'd sure like to see that but I'm in the same boat. Have no idea on how to post anything. So, I second the help.

I have no idea if mine is the best way (I'm a fossil, not a techie), but what I do is upload photos I want to post to my Photobucket account (it's free), then copy the link/location/image information they provide and post it into my messages using the appropriate icon in the second line of the message/reply window ("Insert Image", "Insert Flash", etc.).  It works MOST of the time. If you don't have a Photobucket account, they're at www.photobucket.com  (again, they're free).  Of course, for documents you want to post, you've got to scan them into an image (jpg) file before you upload them to Photobucket.  Does anybody out there have a better way???

;DOK guys my computer skills consist of hitting the on button and hoping it turns on. If anyone wants a copy I will print/mail a copy. There have been some major changes since 1975 :'(

Grumpy:  If you'd like, send me a copy & I'll scan it & post it.  I'll send you a PM with my address.

That would be great if you can post it.

Here they are, compliments of Grumpy Grizzly:

These are probably too small to read.  For larger size, right click on an image, then choose "Open image in new tab", and it should be readable.

Want your own copy?  Right click on an image and choose "Save image as . . ."  [Don't forget to put it where you can find it  ;) ::) :P ]

Thanks, Grumpy!

Thank you Grumpy Grizzly for posting the chart.  I happened to come across one from 1948 and thought I'd post it in comparison.

Thanks Mike and "raybrag" and Grumps too for posting those older charts and map. A lot of changes over the years (besides me getting fat and loosing my hair).
Just one more thing that I did do to help view these better. On the lower right corner I increased the percentage of view from 100 % to 400 %. Big difference in helping to read. I'm not sure if that was suggested earlier on, but I'm just so pround of myself for learning something new today. (Yes, the human mind is a wonderful thing).

I think if you are using a PC if you hold down the CTRL key and press the + key it will also increase the size. On a Mac hold down the Apple key and press the +. Hope this works.

Thanx for the kudo but the real credit should go to my wife. She scanned and posted it for you guys. And on the way back from our honeymoon in 1978 she took in a 5th alarm in Southie Box 7117.  ;D

:) To Mike and the 1948 unit chart. OUTSTANDING MANY MANY THANX FOR A LOOK INTO THE PAST!! 50 foot city service rigs, 65 foot aerials, 500 GPM pumps, 1 and 2 sections. What did the dinosaurs eat??? Again many many thanx for a job well done :)

"Grump", glad to hear about the wife taking in that 5th in Southie Boston. Way to go. I assume you're still married. (since 1978). I think "mikeindabronx" told me he got some help from his wife with putting his Great Bronx/Harlem Photos (www.fdnysbravest.com) in his book etc. My wife and I didn't catch a job on our Honeymoon, but she sure has had her share of taking in jobs with the FDNY, Bridgeport, Ct and maybe one or two in Providence. Plus she's been with me in neighborhoods that some of my friends are afraid to go into. She never gave a fire truck a second look. We met in 1975, and our first date was to see "The Towering Inferno". Said "I Do" in October, 1976. Came home more than a few nights, smelling of smoke, about 4-5 AM, after a night of chasing the War Years Fires. Yes, there still are some good women out there. Tough to find, but they're out there. "Cheers to OUR OLD Ladies" who have been so good to us.

Cheers to our "OLD" ladies? Boy you sure are treading on thin ice with that one. LOL

Got married on St.Paddy's Day 1972 and my wife has been to more fires then I care to remember. She also does all the computer work on the web site.

Those who support us. I met my first wife at her friend's wedding. She was no outstanding beauty but she was what I liked in a woman. I asked her for her phone number which she gave me. When I called her for a date she was surprized, she had heard that BS line from guys before. She was later diagnosed with breat cancer after we got engaged, they did a radical mastectomy. Guys from Cambridge E-5 made sure I had a place  to park to visit. We got married but 6 months later I was told the cancer had returned and it was n ot good. I visited her every night, guys fromE33/L15 and 37/L26 took care of me. She died in May, worst day in my life. I was attending college at Bunker Hill CC in Charlestown, every guy from my class attended the wake/funeral. Guys from E17/L7, E24/L23/ E52/L29. Guys I know at times they annoy us but when she is gone, well she is gone. I was lucky enough to find a wife who understands the job, we have a son on the job in Elk Grove Township. So guys just show her some love, if she didn't give a rat's ass whould you be doing this? I really miss Linda and I really love Joanne :)

Back in 1996, I was invited to attend Engine 248's centennial celebration but it happened to fall on our fifth wedding anniversary.  I cautiously mentioned it to my wife and she said: "Let's go."  We did and had a fine time seeing the old timers that I worked with in the 60s and 70s.
