this is an estimate because some engines have been closed and a few trucks added....
94 Engine companies, and a fire boat (engine 58)
60 Truck companies
4 Squad companies
24 Battalion chiefs
5 command vans (2-7-1, 2-7-2, 2-7-3, 2-7-4. 2-7-9)
62 ALS, 12 BLS ambulances

side note: engine 65's fire house was where backdraft was filmed..

All Engines and Trucks have 5 assigned...
Engines (1 officer, 1 engineer, 3 fireman, all engines are Advanced life support so they have 1 cross trained paramedic/f.f. and one emt/f.f.)
Trucks ( 1 officer, 4 f.f. the driver and another f.f go to roof if 1st truck on scene, 1 f.f. goes to rear of building, officer and junior guy go to front of building)
Squads (1 officer, 5 f.f., a squad is man power rig, 2 vehicles, a tool box similar to FDNY rescue co. and a ladder truck( not sure what type but it has a basket and bends like an elbow)
battalion chiefs drive themselves...

companies my also have a variance every once in a while... this just means they r short staffed. similar to 10-14 engine.... but if a company is on a variance they do not send another company for assistance.

Squads 1, 2, and 5 are 2000 HME/Central States with a second peice consisting of a 55' boom snorkel. Squad 7 (O'Hare)  is a 2000 Pierce Lance with a 2003 Ford second peice carrying several chemical agents. Grumpy Grizzly  :)

recently squad 1 and 5 have not had thier second pieces due to mechanical problems. all 6 f.f. are riding in the box. im not sure why they dont have spares but the past few fires where they could have used the boom snorkel they have not had them
