This location is one of my most frequented hangouts back in the late 1960's thru early 1970's. The TSQ is next to "Lace"  Gentlemen's Club" that was formerly the Metropole Cafe where you had top musical acts performing onstage all day. One of the steady regulars there was Dizzie Gillespie. Inside the block on 48th St. was "Music Row" where the best musical instrument shops in NYC were located including "MANNY'S MUSIC" where on any given day you could run into some of the biggest rock stars like: Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Sly Stone, The Young Rascals, The Who and many others shopping for instruments and trying them out.

FDNY history note: This building is where members of Rescue 1 did a rope rescue of a couple of recording studio employees. They worked in the studio where in 1970, my "Eve of Eden" band recorded our first demo records that got us into the front door of Mercury Records. United Artists records had offices there, too.

Bought my favorite guitar (a Guild F-50) at Manny's many, many moons ago. The salesman was a guy named Billy, who played a mean guitar himself.

L 129 to  Ladder 3 on E 13th Street.  Now that's a relocation  ;)

A ladder from Jersey City or Hoboken would have been a lot closer.  :o ::) :P
