2/5/25 Queens 3rd Alarm Box 4123

Great stop Queens. Brooklyn companies had to come and take care of business 🤷‍♂️
Unfortunately the BARB system effected numerous company's in all boros in negative ways. One thing l can tell you is that theres no way 237 from Morgan & Gratton beats 319. Into that box. When 277 was at 222 for a long period 319 was 3rd due on the 1st Alarm to the 104 pct on Catalpa Ave off fresh pond rd ( stagging area from today's 3rd Allarm )... Point is that there no Queens company's other than 286, 291, 319, 135, 140 that are remotely closer to that box.

It is amazing in the dense parts of the city how little time separates multiple alarm engine companies. While I understand Google Maps isn't a perfect mapping instrument, I think this gives a general sense of slim the differences are. Here are the projected response times for engines (other than special assignments) on the box per Google maps:

E291- 9 min
E286- 7 min
E277- 10 min
E271- 9 min
E222- 15 min
SQ252- 10 min

E218- 15 min
E233- 13 min
E206- 13 min
E237- 14 min

E319- 12 min (only 319 was coming from their own quarters on the 3rd).

Additional units that didn't respond:
SQ288- 14 min
E332- 16 min
E236- 17 min
E292- 18 min
E293- 19 min
E287- 19 min

It also speaks to the amazing level of resources in the FDNY - not many departments could field 13+ engines in 15-ish minutes, and close to 20 engines in 20 minutes.
Thanks for that info HFN01... Did Google maps take 319 down Metropolitan Ave to Fresh Pond road and left to 68 Rd or copper into Central to fresh pond rd which is the shortest route and FYI 332 responded as the communications. Engine on the 3rd.

It shows Metropolitan and Central as being roughly the same duration, with the preferred route (according to Google) being Metropolitan

I see 291 gave the 10-75. I was almost sure that 286/135 were ahead of 291/140 into this area, but who knows, anything can happen.
What's up kid...... Now that l live in Fla I'm alittle out of touch with my Seagrave updates. I talk to Uncle Willie and he gives me the latest info.

286 / 135 are 1st due. Looks like 140 opp fire b'ldg with stick up and 291 gave the
10-7555555. They might have been returning to quarters from a previous run who knows..lol

They should have been 1st due on the 3rd of the acting engines were not assigned

This area of Upper Ridgewood is a very rough area for most Queens company's that are assigned to these boxes. Other than286/ 135 In Glendale and 291 / 140 in Ridgewood the next closest company is
319 in Middle Village. Its basically astraight run for 319 80 St to Copper Ave right on Copper Ave into Central Ave to Fresh Pond Rd. After 319 all other Queens engines and trucks have a haul. 293 from Woodhaven, 294 & 143 from Richmond, 287 & 136 from Elmhurst, 305 & 151 from Forest Hills, 292 from Winfield and 325 & 163 from Woodside.
If you noticed out of the 10 trucks assigned to this job 7 are from Brooklyn....

L 124...112...176...111...120...175....176

The 3 from Queens are 135...140...115 act 135

Back in the war years when l was a Aux Capt in 319 we always felt like it was hours before the trucks got in it was a job near quarters . It takes awhile for the 1st and 2nd due trucks to get into middle village due to our location.

135...140 ...136 and 143 are the 4 trucks that primarily cover middle village depending on the location of the box . A few years back when 135 was temp in our quarters the guys in 319 said it felt great having a truck there knowing a truck company'is there at the job from the start. The guys from 135 were happy due to doing more running and work covering allot more area especially when they caught a job in Rego Park , Forest Hills or Corona as a 2nd due or special called X- truck..
