Units dispatched @00:51 to 3418 24th Street NE, for the possible structure fire, 2 Story PD. Upgraded to a working fire.

DC911 – Caller states smoke and fire from the structure @00:52

BC2 – Working Fire 3400 block 24th St SE. Fire showing both floors 2 story semi-detached dwelling @00:59

BC2 – 2nd Alarm due to a Mayday call for a partial collapse rear exterior with an injured firefighter. Firefighter is not trapped and being treated by EMS. Fire being knocked down on both floors @01:06

BC2 – Injured firefighter transported non life threatening injuries. Had fire both floors 2 story house extended via attic to adjacent attached house. Visible fire extinguished. Hitting hotspots @01:51

BC2 – Fire under control. 2 displacements and no reported injuries other than the 1 firefighter @02:33

Interesting the number of EMS units assigned to this D.C F.D. 2nd Alarm. I firmly believe that all working fires MUST include the response of EMS unit dedicated to firefighters ONLY. FDNY at one time had "Department Ambulances" for use by Firefighters, and one responded on all multiple alarms, maned by trained brother firefighters. A Duty Medical Officer "M.D." also responded with the ambulance to direct firefighter patient care in most serious fire situations. Captain Bob Rainey FDNY Engine 26 retired
