Because we are getting credit for the work we do, no matter how routine. NYPD takes their marks for everything historically and we sometimes tend to downplay ours. This has been to our detriment as we lost a couple of Command Authorities in ICS to them

I remember one late night sitting in da kitchen being part of a discussion with a buncha senior guys and the officer says screw everything else. The only thing da city looks at is numbers. Da more jobs ya have, da more all hands, da more multiples is what matters. If you go by da old way, we got it with what we got, ain’t gonna get you a raise, it ain’t gonna get ya better benefits, it ain’t gonna get you more company’s. Now I ain’t saying lie but if you got a food on da stove, and I’ve seen a few get a bit out of hand, it ain’t hard to make it a legitimate all hands. First due stretches an second due assists. Third due starts a back up line and fourth due assists. First due truck VES fire floor and second due VES floors above. Today it’s even harder because of all da social BS that da city prioritizes over da FD an da PD.
