I was on scene in 3 minutes. Crazy scene the current was pulling the helicopter at about 1 block per minute.

EUROCOPTER AS350....Standard version carries 1 Pilot & 5 Passengers..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocopter_AS350_?cureuil

as per the 2135 hrs News Conference w/the FD & PD Commissioners they are still going w/the earlier reported two 37-1s...three 37-2s & one 37-3.

All of the reports this morning stating that all 5 passengers died.  The only survivor was the pilot who self extricated himself before anybody arrived on the scene.

All offshore oil production workers are required to take training in helicopter crash escape procedures. This includes bailing out of an underwater helicopter fuselage in a large indoor pool. A passing grade is obviously necessary.

Does anyone know why "MD to D-3 NYPD isn?t putting anymore helicopters in the air. So Air Recon might not happen @19:52"?

The Daily News reports that one of the victims was a Dallas firefighter named Brian McDaniel, no age given. May he and the four other victims Rest in Peace. Prayers for their families and friends.

The PD only puts up a certain amount of helicopters at one time.  By the time the request for the ARC was made, PD already had them in the air

So the pilot ("captain") left the others, nice guy, if he could get himself out, why couldn't he get any of the others out??

And no divers in the water till I get there  I didn?t get tha purpose if that. Just curios.
