I also think I once heard that the SAT5 response on SI 10-75/AH dates back to the days when SI had fewer hydrants and mains than more populated boroughs. That and the fact that a good part of the south shore of island is still wooded, water issues?

Yes in thie case. But in the densely populated neighborhoods, with hydrants??
In reality anytime they relocate a SOC company it's probably gonna be a good distance away.It just wouldn't make sense to move the company next closest.
Even in densely populated area's, there are water issues. Water mains have not been updated. Many area's with 6 inch mains and dead end mains due to how area's were developed. Very easy to have water problems, especially if you go to lcs early. If satellite not needed, chief's have an extra engine to use too
