So now you have R-2 and Sq-1 covering Brooklyn and Staten Island  while  R-5 and Sq- 277 cover Queens and manhattan below 125th st ?

That would be Squad 270

2347 hrs ...special call SQ*270 have then respond to Randalls Island & pick up a Collapse Pod & bring it to the scene then go back in service.

Question: Could any Engine or Ladder not have picked up the Collapse Pod? Does it have to be a Sq or SOC Company

Because if the updates are correct as Sq 270 (Responded - Collected - Delivered) the Collapse Pod to Manh this would have left Queens without a Squad Company for a while especially when SOC Companies where at limited availability

After D-3 confirmed using AH MD told both D-3 & BN-10 that L-43 was the FAST unit. This was at about 20:51.That's why I posted it.

  I have the same question.

  This was a major operation and a very diffucult and unusual rescue. I wish I was there to see it or at least hear it but I didn't have my years on.

  Whether it is a brush fire, or a High Rise fire, or an unusual rescue like this, the FDNY sure gets its share. GREAT JOB by the members.

No worries! L43 was first due but not assigned on the original ticket due to the MDT being down.

I was looking at some pics of this incident on facesofnycfirefighters.smugmug.com and seen 2 ropes hooked up to the bottom of tower ladder 14 basket with a blue and a yellow rope hooked on to that with pulleys and 2 fire fighters on the ground with pulleys hooked to their gear. Is this a 4:1 ma pulley system? It did not look like a 4:1 ma. However my question is, Is this a 4:1 ma pulley system or is this a different type of pulley system used by the rescue and squad companies? Pic #1 and #25. Also was looking at pic # 36 and seen a rescue 1 fire fighter holding a metal object with what looked like webbing wraped around it. What is this????

21:04..D-3 requested Extra Rescue (R-3), 2 Squads (18 & 288) & 2 Eng's (E-76,E-39) D-3 was informed that the 2 Eng's would require the transmission of a 2nd Alarm

22:23.. S/C a Rescue & Squad for relief... R-4, SQ-61

22:28.. S/C 2 Eng's with dewatering pumps..E-7, E-?

Good work by all by the looks of things.

A question about rescue medics, Div3 had to request a Rescue Medic response, would this not already have happened automatically with a technical rescue box being transmitted??

Once on scene, would the rescue medics have played a major roll in the treatment and extraction of the casualty??
