I know some of the staff chiefs take their turn as city-wide commander or some respond on 4th alarms I understand but what do the people in the other “cars” do at an event like this. Like the Deputy Director of Fire Alarm or Director of Technical Services or Supervisor of Mechanics as I’d assume they don’t take roles in the fire command functions

The mechanics/fleet personnel respond with a fuel truck. You may see a guy in a video fueling up the apparatus. You may also catch one looking at the engines/ladders to see how they are performing and may tweak something. But no fire operations or command positions.

Yeah, it would be a long run but Rac 3&4 were still at the 4th alarm. And rac 2 was assigned on the initial alarm. Now I am guessing, (just my honest opinion) is that they kept rac 1 available for rest of city.
