3/27/26 Bronx 3rd Alarm 10-66 Box 3514

Not unless you have a good amount of water on the fire. That big of an opening is gonna give a lot of air to that fire if you don’t.
That is what happened at the fire in 80/23s quarters back in 2008. A space heater was malfunctioning and smoldering up on the second or third floor (not enough heat in the firehouse). The members were all down in the kitchen. When they opened the doors to respond that blast of air ignited the entire third floor. The units were responding and had no idea what was going on back at the ranch.
The firehouse was eventually rebuilt and 80/23 wound up with what was basically a whole new firehouse.

Are they still running CFR runs in 79 first due area ?
Last night they had an engine “acting” 79 at E48 every 3 hours. They checked out 3 firehouses for them to relocate to haven’t heard nothing else. Around 2009 the engine went to 62 and ladder and battalion went to 81 both in cages outside. 48 has an out door pretty inclosed parking lot so maybe someone will be going there. Seems alittle out of the way to have the truck riding out of 81. I can see the battalion going to 81 just makes sense.

Thanks for the update. The reason i inquired about the CFR runs was that E79 ran just short of 3600 medical runs in 2025. That’s about 9-10 a day. Might be best to put an EMS fly car with 2 EMTs in 79 area from 0800-2400. Until more definitive plans are worked out.

As of 1800 Hours

Engine 79 to Engine 62
Ladder 37 to Engine 81
Battalion 27 to Engine 81

MCC2 on Fire Watch at 79/37

alarm? L33 was designated the FAST when BN 19 announced the 10+75
Don’t think the 19 was added until after the 10-75 was transmitted.

From the audio above you can hear the dispatcher attempting to raise B27, since they were initially assigned although also trapped upstairs. Presumably the dispatcher transmitted the 10-75 based on the phone calls from L37.

Gettin' down in the weeds here but here's my guess at what went down...

The initial report of a fire came from a civilian in the area behind the firehouse on Bainbridge avenue. That triggered Box 4907, Bainbridge at Bedford Park boulevard (actually 199th Street) be dispatched. Assignment there is
79 48 88. 37 56
When the trapped L37 reported the fire (10-75) was actually in the firehouse the dispatcher changed the box number to 3514, their Home Box. This resulted in an assignment change to L33 as the FAST truck rather than L38. L32 would be next up at 3514 so they went in as the new FAST when L33 was put to work. So E88 went in third due on the 1st alarm but their partner L38 went in first due on the third alarm. Amazing how just a matter of a few yards between 4907 and 3514 can jumble things up. And I guess only a wonk from this neighborhood would find this important at all.
What is really important is that L56 got in there and got those guys out of the firehouse safely. I bet they were flying up Webster avenue when the report came that the brothers were trapped on the second floor. Kudos 48/56.

There's a report somewhere that housewatch had smelled smoke. Not sure where in the mix they smelled.smoke and calls started arriving.

I’m guessing B27 goes in between E79, L37. Can they get the rig out without moving apparatus?
Yes. I was just looking at a video trying to figure out where housewatch is. The 27 is in 37s bay but in-between the supports for the 2nd floor and the officers side of the ladder. They can only get out 37s side.
