National Grid supplies only natural gas to all of Brooklyn, Staten Island and about 2/3’s of Queens. It’s the latest company name for what was Keyspan and before that, Brooklyn Union Gas.

Areas like Maspeth, Middle Village, Ridgewood, Elmhurst, Jamaica, Rosedale, St Albans, Richmond Hill, Ozone Park are all National Grid territory.

Con Edison (CE) supplies electric to all 5 Boroughs, They supply the natural gas in all of Manhattan, The Bronx and the areas of Long Island City, Astoria, Flushing, Bayside, College Point and Whitestone In Queens. Basically CE has the gas east of the Van Wyck Expressway and north of the LIE, all the way out to the Nassau border.

CE also has a steam system in Manhattan.

While back 242 was 1st due on the 2nd and 149 2nd due on the 2nd here. Is that still true?

con ed with their hi prices & their "storage" & "delivery" add on fees are driving people out of NYC faster than anything else going on !

When I worked for Brooklyn Union, (73 to 05) LILCO had the Rockaways. When the companies merged in 1998, they wanted us to cover it. It never happened while I was there. See below.

I’d say yes since the Rockaway‘s were always a part of LILCO. Here’s a copy of the history from PSEG Long Island Website.

The Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO) was the previous electrical power company and natural gas utility for Long Island, New York, from 1911 until 1998. It was succeeded by the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), which was created to acquire the LILCO's assets and securities after the cancellation of the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant in 1985. A second LIPA (a wholly owned subsidiary of the first) acquired LILCO's transmission and distribution system later, in 1998.

Until January 1, 2014, LIPA owned and operated the electrical transmission and distribution systems of its service area (most of Long Island), but since the call for privatization of electric companies in the US, LIPA's activities were progressively handed to PSEG, a New Jersey electrical utility company which was selected by LIPA in 2011 to take over management. Today, LIPA is the owner of the Transmission & Distribution infrastructure, but PSEG Long Island manages and operates them.

Even though location is close to VN, I would think E163, E 153, E 155 maybe E 159 might arrive faster than any Bklyn company using the VN. But maybe?

This was years ago they were 4th due on the ticket..I'm sure things have changed

Pre-VN Bridge - In the 1950s, E 161 and E 152 both had WLF quads. E 152, E 161 and E 160 were single engine houses.

SI also had 2 South Shore ladder companies with quads - L 76 and L 82.

The quads were like an engine company with the additional compliment of ground ladders. I think they put them in areas where truck company coverage was sparse. WLF was the manufacturer, Ward LaFrance. I think they called them combination companies.

^^^^ The FDNY QUAD's were extended length Pumpers with ground ladders & called just that "QUADs".....Combination Companies were a 2 piece Unit with an ENG & a Tower Ladder & one Officer (a CPT) .....QUAD's had regular ENG Fronts & CFCs had split colored Fronts (half Red & half Black) the QUAD's were from an earlier era & were around awhile the CFC's came later & were a failed attempt at cost saving's (Officer pay wise).
