The following report needs confirmation:

Report of a a car travelling on I 395s,  was making a U turn at an emergency turn around.
A car going south hit them sending car into northbound traffic.
Norwich fire fighter  ??    was going north and hit the car and  was killed. 
 
Confirmed: Norwich firefighter was killed when hit by a drunk driver making an illegal turn on I-395.  Firefighter's two kids were in the back seat, injured, being treated at hospital.

Benjamin DeMond, age 33, joined Norwich (CT) FD in 2006.  A 4 year old is in serious condition and a 6 year old is in critical condition.
 
I never worked with Ben but I knew him as a good friend and an Excellent Firefighter. Ben was in excellent physical shape and he loved the job. I saw him at a few fires that I buffed and it was easy to see that this guy loved what he did. I'll miss him.

  I have been told that Norwich firefighters have been staying around the clock with the family and the two injuried children while being treated at Childrens Hospital in Hartford (Ct). There have also been many visits from the Hartford Fire Dept Brothers to give their support.

  A very tragic story caused by a drunk driver.

Driving Under the Influence, in my eyes you have no recourse. Do not want to hear your apology. All I want to hear is Bubba saying he has a new "friend" for the next year or two. Better buy stock in K-Y, I am sure you will need it. Even in jail there is a code.
