At approximately 930 this morning Polk County Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle in a ditch near Lake Wales. As the story goes the vehicle entered the ditch about 20 feet from the road and was surrounded by trees and brush and was completely hidden lower then the road bed. Apparently the accident happened overnight and was reported this morning. Polk Heavy Squad 9( heavy rescue) along with 2 other squad engines, mutual aid from Lake Wales Tower 1, Aeromed 4( helicopter) SOC chief and the area battalion along with 2 als ambulances. Members stabilized the vehicle, and extricate the pt before placing him in a stokes and using a ma off Tower 1 to lift the pt to the roadside where they were transported to the waiting helicopter as a trauma alert to probably Lakeland Regiinal or ORMC in Orlando.
