Phone Alarm Reporting A Ruptured Gas Main - 399 Exterior Street.

B14: Transmit The 10-75 & 10-80, We Have A High Pressure 8 Inch Gas Main That Has Been Ruptured Under The Major Deegan Expressway, We Are Evacuating The Area. We Need PD To Respond To Shut Down The Major Deegan Expressway At Exit 4, Both Directions. We Need A Forthwith Response From ConEd Gas & Electric. @08:14

B14: We Are Keeping The Units Out Of Exterior Street, We Are Setting Up A Command Post At Exterior Street & 144th Street.

B14 gave 10-75 & 10-80 - high pressure main ruptured under the Major Deegan X-pressway - need PD to stop traffic on Deegan both north & south bound - we're evacuating the area

D6: We need PD to shut down the Major Deegan from 149 St. to 138 St. in both directions, Con Ed is trying to mitigate the problem, we are still in the process of evacuating the surrounding b'ldgs.

10-80 Haz-Mat incident. The initial notification by field units of a hazardous materials incident. Transmission of the signal 10-80 will serve to warn responders to proceed with caution to avoid entering a restricted area. The FDNY Incident Commander will transmit the appropriate code after size up and evaluation of the incident.
  • CODE 1An incident requiring additional resources and/or specialized equipment not carried by regular field units to assist the IC in assessing the hazards and identifying the resources necessary to manage the spill or release. Units dispatched on a 10-80 Code 1 include:
    • Haz-Mat Battalion
    • Haz-Mat Company 1
    • Haz-Tac Conditions Officer
    • Nearest available Haz-Mat Technician Unit
    • Nearest available ALS/BLS Haz-Tac Ambulance

The 10-80 was updated a few months ago.

10-80 = On scene units handled it without special units.

10-80-1 = Special Units were needed to handle it.

10-80-2 = A major incident (Terrorist Attack, gasoline tanker) that needs many additional units.

The 10-80 and 10-80-1 are used as disposition codes.

The 10-80-2 is a request for additional units.
