May you six continue to Rest in Peace and may your families, friends, those you worked with and those who responded continue to be comforted.

Memories of that day still live with me. But I have another memory twenty years later. At the 20yr Anniversary of the fire the remembrance mass at St Brendan’s Church I was asked to say a few words and receive a Plaque from the families for the Highway House. I struggled to find appropriate words. My thoughts were of the families and how they have dealt with their loss. We all say the Fire Department is one family and looking out from the pulpit it was never so evident. They’re families were our families. I wasn’t there 20 yrs prior but even the newest proby in the church that day knew they were all connected by tragedy and love of a job. Let’s not forget all those who gave the ultimate but let’s remember the ‘families’
God Bless them all.

The Next Evening, there was a BBQ Grill Fire @ E.31 & Ave. L
276/156, 309/159, 323

[255/157 Unavailable (?)]. The Guys were going thru the motions,
just about each of them somewhat quiet & the 'Thousand Yard Stare'
on just about every face. Dreadful.
