EMS transmitting a 10-32 [MCI/Ground Transport] for a 3 car MVA with 9 patients


 
  From 1978 to 1989 I had a house 1 block south of Linden Blvd with a backyard facing the Cross Island Pkwy. I got to see many gruesome wrecks from my kitchen window. I remember finding a news crew from Ch.7 "Eyewitness News" at my door one evening. They wanted to interview me because there had been 144 accidents in one year behind my house. There was one accident on St. Patrick's Day where three teens totalled a late 1980's Olds "98" by having it cut in two by a tree trunk. I woke up in the morning to find both sections of the car about 40 to 50 ft. apart with the cops and the parents looking it over. Miraculously the three kids survived and walked away from the wreck causing police to initiate a search of the area for their "bodies". Another St. Patties Day wreck involved some teens that went off the road into the Brookville creek that runs parallel on the Nassau County side of the parkway. Unfortunately, that car was partially submerged and was not found for three days. The worse accident there occured on a Friday morning when a woman traveling north on the Cross Island Pkwy lost control of her Buick Regal which became airborne, jumped the divider and decapitated an elderly couple coming west from the Southern State Pkwy. I was making a cup of coffee when this happened right outside my kitchen window. 
 
I remember that last one you mentioned. I don't think I ever took that turn under the LIRR tracks when it goes parallel to the Belt faster than 45, EVER!!
