50 years ago at 1800 hours on this date Ladder 176 was organized. Out of the original 34 members there are 18 still collecting a pension. For us it was the best of times to be in the thick of the battle during the war years. Eng.232 was there to welcome us with open arms into the Tin House and a great relationship was formed. It was a sad day for all us when 232 was disbanded on Super Bowl Sunday 1/31/88.

Certainly was the Best Of Times.....I always enjoyed working as an R*2 FF down the block & then as a LT covering in both the Tinhouse & in the New House & with the Companies as a 332 LT in the same BN ......some great FFs & Officers in the Companies.

I will NEVER FORGET how Great those Guys of Ladder 176 were to me, and how they invited myself and a buff buddy to ride with them for the night.
AND WHAT A NIGHT IT WAS.
I lost track of how many runs they made and how many of them were good jobs.

It was. 732 was closed August 5th of 72 and 4 members from 732 were assigned 176. Some members of 732 were bitter after the closing and thought they would become 176. Who knows what the thinking was back then. They then notified 233-2 they would be closing and said to put in a CD 30 for you would like to go. 19 Firemen and 3 Lts. were assigned 176. 3 came from Ladder 11 and various other co.s to make up the 34 we had when we opened. We rode with 6 men because of the Adaptive Response back then, 2 engines and 1 Truck on a pulled box.
