Back in the war years this box usually went 1st due to the company that got or of quarters first. In E 332 we had to make the left out of quarters as did E 236. The box was located 7 blocks from each quarters. The first company to close the apparatus doors first usually won. I would give one big pull on the chains and jump on the back step.
I personally will never forget those war years. I met great firefighters and bosses from company's we ran in with E 225
E 231. E 290. E 236. E 233-1. E 233-2 TL 120. L 175. L 103-1. L 103-2. TL 107. Squad 4. Batt 44-1 Batt 44-2 Batt 29 & Batt 39 and those TCU units.
